Eupatorium coelestinum (Hardy ageratum) Plants
Eupatorium colestinum, also known as the mistflower or hardy ageratum, is a highly attractive perennial for late season blooms. This US native is found from the east coast toward the heart of the country and is normally located in meadows, fields, and along streamsides. It is a quick spreading plant which makes it perfect for groundcover, erosion control, and for naturalizing. A favorable plant as a nectar source for migrating Monarch butterflies, as well as, for bees and other butterflies late in the season.
Mature Plant Size: 2'-3' Tall, 24" Spread
Bloom Time: September-October
Light Exposure: Full Sun - Partial Shade
Soil Type/pH: Well-draining/6.0-7.5, higher mineral versus organically rich soil is ideal
Hardiness Zones: 6-11
Container Size: 4.5" Pot, Landscape plugs coming in spring 2019.
Fertilizer: Usually not needed. A little bit of compost in very sandy soils will help keep the plants moist longer for better displays. Too much fertlizer... stems get weak and plants grow way too fast.
