Artichoke 'Tavor' Plants
Artichoke 'Tavor' Plants
'Tavor', is the perfect artichoke for organic growing in either warm climates or cultured as an annual in cold regions. This artichoke produces 7 or more 4.5" fruits of exceptional quality. The almost spineless fruits make preparation much simpler with less chance of injury.
Our artichoke plants have received a brief vernalization period and will be ready to set fruit the first year (especially important if growing as an annual). It is best to plant after all chances of frost are gone. Use hay, pine needles, grass clippings, or straw to keep the soil cool during hot weather and also to keep weeds from germinating.
Days to Maturity: 90
Spacing: 2' - 3'
Mature Plant Height: 3' - 4'
Fertilizer: Enrich soil with well cured compost in early spring prior to planting or use an all-purpose fertilizer. Fertilize with fish emulsion or similar fertilizer every two weeks during the growing season.
Water: Keep evenly moist at all times. Water more frequent during hot weather.
Container Size: 4.5" Pot
