Alcea rosea 'Queeny Purple'
Alcea rosea 'Queeny Purple'
Queeny Purple is a tried and true favorite. Garnering the 2004 Flowering Award by the All American Selections committee with merit in flower power and versatility in the landscape. The powderpuff blooms are a vivid purple, not too dark and not too light, just the right amount of color to contrast nicely with the dark green leaves. These 3"-4" blooms are borne short on upright columnar stalks, like traditional hollyhocks with its' shorter stature being a welcoming trait to the landscape. This dwarf is very versatile in the mid-border and works great with other tropical colored plants; especially annuals.
