Lonicera sempervirens 'Major Wheeler' Plants
Lonicera sempervirens 'Major Wheeler' Plants
Major Wheeler, while still a honeysuckle is far different than the white Japanese type that invades our woodsides and hedge rows. This variety is a selection from the native honeysuckle that is very hard to find growing in the wild; thus, they are not as invasive as one would pin a honeysuckle to be. Major Wheeler, is slow growing, has the traditional blue-green leaves that blush red in winter, and most importantly it has scarlet red blooms that hummingbirds cannot resist. It is perfect for arbors, trellises, and training for topiary. A long lived perennial.
