Hosta 'Patriot' is a popular hosta with perfect variegated foliage and a tight ground hugging habit.  The ovate leaves have rich green centers and creamy white leaf margins.  The leaves are of good substance for withstanding the elements and will tolerate some sun exposure.  Tall scapes of tubular lavender flowers are borne in June/July.  A great groundcover for shade.

Fertilizer: If using compost apply an 1" at planting time and side dress annually in late fall or early spring.  If using a granular fertilizer, we recommend organic formulations, apply an all purpose formula in early spring annually.  It is only recommended to use liquid fertilizers when the growth is slow, and this is not normally needed.
