The platycodon genus is comprised of one specie of perennial plant. The specie comes from East Asia, where it is found growing on grassy slopes and mountain meadows. Platycodon grandiflorous is the only species in this genus, therefore extensive crop selections have brought the cultivars we now grow today. The characteristics of this great specie starts with deep green smooth foliage that gives way to balloon shaped flower buds. Once, the buds are mature they remain in a balloon shape for a few days until bursting into perfect stars.
