Sedum spurium 'Dragon's Blood' Plants

Sedum spurium 'Dragon's Blood', is an attractive groundcover sedum that is blood red throughout the cooler months of the year.  In late spring and summer (pictured) the succulent leaves take on a green complexion.  If the plants are happy in late summer, they will burst into a frenzy of pink star shaped blooms.  Keep on the moist side at this time of year to encourage bloom set.  This tough groundcover is very cold hardy and drought tolerant once established.  A great weed suppressor for the front of the border and mass plantings.  Looks really good growing around rocks.

Fertilizer:  A little compost at planting time is sufficient or half the dose of an all-purpose granular or scratch in fertilizer.  A lot of nitrogen leads to weak growth and shorter-lived plants.
