Heuchera Forever® Purple, is a grand introduction by Terra Nova Nurseries. Normal purple heucheras tend to fade into green or lighten as the daylength increases, but forever purple has a rich purple coloration in the summer as well the rest of the year. The heavily fluted leaves have a glassy sheen and are borne vigorously on this thickly mounded perennial. A four seasons of interest plant with rich purple tones all year long. A lovely heuchera to break up long drifts of light-colored hostas or other heucheras. Not a preferred food source for deer but they may browse occasionally on them.
Mature Plant Size: 12" Tall, 22" Spread
Bloom Time: May - September; pink/purple bells
Light Exposure: Partial-Full Shade
Soil Type/pH: Well-drained/6.0-7.0
Hardiness Zones: 3-9
Fertilizer: If using compost apply an 1" at planting time and side dress annually in late fall or early spring. If using a granular fertilizer apply an all-purpose formula in early spring annually. It is only recommended to use liquid fertilizers when the growth is slow, and this is not normally needed.
Water: Monitor plants through first year for moisture; water deep and inconsistently to encourage the roots to go deep. Once established water supplementation should only be needed in extended drought situations.
