Asparagus Fern

Asparagus Fern

A green beauty for containers, asparagus fern, is not a true fern but rather a relative to the lily family.  This gem does well in partial sun or a bright indoor spot.  The wispy boughs look great planted in terra cotta or earth-toned pots where they gracefully cascade the pot edge.  White pearl blooms are borne above the foliage from spring to fall.  While the blooms are secondary to the foliage, they are still beautiful and fragrant.  Red berries follow the blooms adding to the display.  Asparagus fern is super easy to grow and highly recommended for beginners.  Simply keep moist and enjoy.  Like all houseplants the asparagus fern cleanses and purifies the indoor environment.  The berries are toxic if ingested so keep this plant away from pets or cut flowering stalks before they make berries.
