Heuchera 'Fire Alarm' Plants

Heuchera 'Fire Alarm' Plants

Heuchera 'Fire Alarm', is by far the reddiest heuchera to date.  Like hot coals this variety lights up any bed or border in full sun all the way to full shade.  The cooler parts of the year bring out the rich red hues with the summer color being a reddish brown.  Attractive white blooms are borne over top the rich foliage in late spring until about the middle of summer.  A vigorous grower even through heat and humidity.  Loved by butterflies, pollinators, and hummingbirds.  Deer resistant.
Mature Plant Size: 9" Tall, 14" Spread, 13" Flower Height
Bloom Time: Late Spring/Early Summer
Light Exposure: Full Sun/Partial Shade/Full Shade
Soil Type/pH: Well-drained/5.5-6.5

Fertilizer: If using compost apply an 1" at planting time and side dress annually in late fall or early spring.  If using a granular fertilizer (we recommend organic formulations), apply an all-purpose formula in early spring annually.  It is only recommended to use liquid fertilizers when the growth is slow, and this is not normally needed.
Water:  Monitor plants through the first year for moisture; water deep and inconsistently to encourage the roots to go deep.  Once the plants are established water supplementation should only be needed in extended drought situations or if planting in full sun.  A well-drained soil is a must for longevity of the plants.
