Garden Chives Plant - Streambank Gardens

Chives Plants

  • $ 5.95

Chives are a long lived perennial herb that has hollow leaves and a mild onion taste.  We have always found that dried chives are bland and only recommend harvesting them fresh.  In mild climates these plants will continue growing throughout the winter and can be harvested all year long.  Where winters are harsh they can be grown in pots on a bright windowsill.  The lavender purple flowering heads are borne in the middle of spring and are a great early nectar source for bees.  These flowers are beautiful enough to tuck into the flower border.  An easy to grow herb.
