Crimson clover is nothing new to the cover crop market. This bold annual is typically planted in the fall for a winter cover crop. It slowly grows throughout the fall and winter months, then jumps when temperatures warm in spring, before blooming in early summer. The plants keep microbes happy during the winter months and can be turned under for green manure in spring or allowed to bloom and reseed. Crimson clover fixes 150-200 lbs of nitrogen per acre if turned under. The most nitrogen fixation occurs when turned under just before bloom. A great cover crop to boost soil tilth and provide nutrients for summer planted crops. Great in large drifts for early summer color. Also, great for deer food plots, and pasture. Non-organic seed that is untreated.
