Redwing onions are a favorite long term storage onion of ours.  The reddish-purple bulbs grow up to 4" in diameter with beautiful interior rings of red and white.  The thick exterior scales remain firm for a long duration making this onion perfect for storage.  The flavor is mild at harvest and obtains more pungency the longer it is stored.  Redwing onions are day neutral, but perform best in the central and northern parts of the United States.
