Giant musselburgh is a large shank leek with exceptional garden performance.  This old heirloom is a popular over-wintering variety with mild white flesh that is perfect in stews and soups.  The thick shanks can get up to 3" in diameter with some outliers being even bigger.  From a spring transplant you can harvest leeks starting in the middle of summer until the following spring.  They are a great substitute for onions during the winter months.  Easy to grow and easy to care for.
