• Plant in a well-drained soil that has been enriched with organic matter, and within a pH
    range of 6.0 - 7.0.
  • Sink transplants approximately two inches below the first set of true leaves; or true leaf
branches.  This encourages more root development and a stronger plant.
  • Caging tomatoes encourages more air flow which helps hinder fungal and bacteria
    growth.
  • Sucker plants periodically if larger fruits are acquired.
  • Avoid irregular water, which leads to fruit splitting.
  • Make sure to rotate crops from year to year and never plant in the same spot as peppers,
eggplants, or other tomatoes two years in a row.
  • Watch for late blights, fungal problems in mid to late summer, and pests throughout the
    growing season.
