Festuca genus contains some three hundred to four hundred species of perennial grasses, with a small fraction containing the powdery blue colorations. These tufted grasses are widely grown for turf and ornamental purposes. They are natively(US) spread throughout temperate zones in grasslands, woodland edges, and stream margins.

Festuca Growing Tips

- Plant in a well-drained soil in full sunlight.
- Festuca glauca is known for its ability to handle drought conditions, as well as, infertile
soils.
- The blue foliage has better color in semi-arid soils that have a higher mineral content and
less nitrogen.
- Divide every three to four years in poor soils, and every two years in rich soils.
- Do not irrigate plants for best performance, these are drought tolerant perennials that do
not care for excessive irrigation.
