from mid-summer to autumn.  Up to 5' tall with an 18" spread.  Native to Central and Eastern United States.

The echinacea genus contains at least nine species of bold perennials with tough structures.  
Native to dry praires, hillsides, and open woodlands ranging in Eastern and Central North
America.
Echinacea (Coneflower) Growing Tips
  • Plant in a well-drained soil that has been enriched with organic matter or already has an
    adequate amount of organic matter.
  • Add compost to the planting hole to feed a growing plant and to encourage an even soil
    moisture.
  • Before planting make sure the pH of your soil is within a 5.5-7.0 for optimum growth
    and flowering.
  • Coneflower plants enjoy full sun, but will tolerate partial shade.
  • If planting in containers make sure to add sand to the planting medium to aid in drainage.
  • Trim off spent flowers to encourage a longer blooming season.  Though, allowing the
    spent blooms to stay will ensure  the coneflower plants produce seed which is a staple
    for many songbirds.
