- Locate a sharp knife or garden pruners.
- Cut heads when they are firm to the touch and before florets have swelled prior to
flowering.
- During the hot days of summer it is best to harvest heads in early morning.
- Leave plants in the ground after harvest of central head to allow production of side
shoots.
- After harvesting clean heads under running water.
- Broccoli leaves can also be picked when tender and boiled like spinach or collard greens.
