Genus contains 100 or more species of herbaceous perennials, deciduous subshrubs, and evergreen shrubs. These plants are primarily found in thickets, woodlands, rocky, and mountainous places. Teucrim is spread worldwide, but is especially common in Mediterranean regions. The simple or toothed leaves are borne as opposite pairs and are usually very aromatic. The the two lipped flowers are borne thickly on columnar flowering stalks.

- Plant in a well-drained soil that has been enriched with organic matter or already has an
adequate amount of organic matter.
- Add compost to the planting hole to feed a growing plant and to encourage an even soil
moisture.
- Before planting make sure the pH of your soil is within a 5.5-7.0 for optimum growth
and flowering.
- Teucrium plants enjoy full sun, but will tolerate partial shade.
- Mulch plants to aid in winter protection and moisture conservation.
