    with an abundant amount of compost.
  • Transplant during the cool, shaded parts of the day like in the morning and evening when
    the sun is low in the sky.
  • Water plants throughly after transplanting to eliminate air pockets, that can dry the new
    root system and cause death of the fresh transplant.
  • Fertilize if needed in light soils.  Organically rich soils can support lettuce plants from
    transplant to harvest.
  • Mulch if desired and maintain a moderate soil moisture.
