Leek - A tuberous biennial of the onion genus (allium),
that is a native to Switzerland and is also found wild in
Algeria. Brought into cultivation by the Greeks.  This
bulbless allium has hollow flat leaves and a long tuberous
shank, that is also known as an elongated soft bulb.
Leeks make a great addition to soups, salads, and just
about any dish where a mild onion flavor is acquired.
