• Plant in a well-drained soil that has enriched with organic matter within a pH range of
    6.0 - 7.0.
  • Eggplants thrive in full sun and require consistent soil moisture for optimum fruit
    production.
  • Long hot growing seasons are required for eggplants, as they are very unproductive in
    cool weather.  
  • If you can grow sweet potatoes you can grow eggplants.  
  • In northern gardens planting in a patio tub enables you to move the plant to a warm area
    when cool temperatures threaten outside; as cool air can cause eggplants to drop fruit.
  • If your area is prone to cool summers consider growing eggplants in a heated
    greenhouse or solarium.
