• Grow in a humus rich soil within a pH range of 6.0-7.0.
  • Celery likes warm temperatures and should be planted when air temperatures remain
    above 55 degrees for best results.
  • Enrich poor soils with an abundance of compost prior to planting.
  • If compost is unavailable, us fish emulsifier or an organically acceptable fertilizer.
  • The celery root system is very shallow, and care should be taken when weeding around
    the base of plants.
  • Celery can be successfully grown in a large containers or window boxes if access to a
    garden is limited.
  • Watch for swallowtail caterpillars in summer, these worms can devour celery leaves
    quickly.  Control by hand picking or spraying an organically approved pesticide.
